Step Three: Choose Your Logs
Which wood species do you prefer?
Douglas Fir Western Red Cedar Yellow Cedar / Cypress Other Log Species
Once the wood species has been chosen, your logs are individually inspected by a journeyman logbuilder who looks for size, grain, minimal knots, twists and bows ensuring that your logs are free from insects/larva and with a good general appearance.
Logs for your home will average 12 - 14" in diameter; or oversized logs on request.
Your character logs We take particular care in choosing your "character logs" which can include natural scars, curves, gnarls, knots, flares from the base of the log, and generally any natural "defects" whi9ch can be highlighted during the construction process to create unique and stunning features in your home.
Each log is carefully hand-peeled Each log is unique and handcrated, meaning all we do to the log is carefully remove the bark and cambium layer. This is done by hand, with a sharp, handheld drawknife.
